Speaker - 5 Rylarians
Jason Schnoor introduced the Table of Guests. Ryla was held in Mid-June at the VT State University, Lyndonville Campus.
Ryla is for Rising Juniors.
Speaking: Henry, Sawyer, Lila, Kate, and Alice. Sawyer went last year and was a Counselor this year.
Each student is assigned a color, either Gold, Blue, Green or Orange and they work in groups of about 7.
Their first assignment is to create a flag for their team. Then they join their group and participate in a series of games and challenges including:
Toxic Waste (while blindfolded)
Italian Frisbee
Rubber Chicken
Rope with Numbers
Scavenger Hunt
They ended the day with Silent Bridge Building (think Newspapers and Cans of Sand)
Some random thoughts from the students:
Out of our comfort zone, Not enough time, Share ideas, Nervous, Different types of leaders, Capable of Leadership, Many Differences, Energy, Excitement, Worthwhile
They ended with a Talent Show which was great fun but also nervewracking! It was mandatory.
