LIFE EVENTS
David Clark is celebrating a birthday, and Logan Price just celebrated six years of marriage. The following people are marking anniversaries as Rotary Members: Bill and Kathy Nilsson, 2 years; Dennis Poole, 3 years; Tom Telling, 15 years (plus about six years in Plattsburgh); and Terry Ryan, 33 years.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Board Meeting--Juddy's first board meeting as president will take place at 5:15 next Tuesday night at the Town Offices. He will be presenting a budget for board approval, which will then go to the entire club for consideration. All members are welcome to attend board meetings.
Treasurer--Geoff Conrad is now the treasurer of the club. Scott Needham will be responsible for receiving all payments.
Friendship Exchange--Nancy Foster announced that English Rotarians will be visiting us for three nights beginning October 13. She needs one more host family--hosts will provide a place to sleep and breakfast. All other activities will be planned by a committee. The district organizers are hoping some of us will join them on the next exchange, planned for New Zealand.
HOPE Bus Stop--The bus stop Rotarians built for HOPE needs to be moved a few feet. Geoff will let members know when this is to happen. About six strong people should be enough to put the shelter onto a new foundation.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Juddy--happy to have Larry and Joan Vars visiting.
Ben--pink flamingoes were surprise visitors on his lawn.
Maureen--thanks to Larry and Joan for making their visit, and to Eric and Janice for hosting the welcoming barbecue.
Eric--happy to have his father visiting, as well as Larry and Joan and District President Elect Susan Snider. Eric will be heading to Rotary's International headquarters in Chicago shortly.
Scott--circulating a petition to have a park named after the Lazarus brothers. Still embarrassed about splitting his pants while helping a young co-ed at the Lazarus store.
Larry Vars--thanks for hosting us last night and today.
Terry--Lee Adkins fell and had to have stitches.
Tom--glad not to be president any more. Looking forward to a house they rented on Cape Cod. Now has a new partner in his accounting business.
PRESENTATION:
Eric Denu has just stepped down as District Governor and will take on the role of Membership Chair for the district over the next year. Eric introduced our new district governor, Larry Vars, who has been a member of the Lancaster, New Hampshire club for 27 years. There are 41 clubs in our district, which encompasses northern New Hampshire and Vermont and a portion of southern Quebec. Larry cited the many programs run by Rotary and the important work done by the Rotary Foundation. He also encouraged members to attend the special Rotary night at the Lake Monsters game in Burlington on August 11. Some of the proceeds will benefit the Foundation.
