Liz Marino: Youth Exchange
Liz is looking for more host families. Buzz will be the first host and is looking for 1-2 more hosts. It works really well when there is a highschool student in the household, but it is not necessary. Please spread the word!
Paul: Service Projects
Lindale project is not likely to happen this June, but Paul is working with David to plan the cemetery cleaning in July. In August, we will help with the MALT entrance as a service project (more to come).
Nancy: Flag Project
Put up will start on Friday/Saturday and take down on Saturday/Sunday.
Ben and Eric: Memorial Day Parade

Spence: Gala Dinner
June 2nd is the Gala Dinner where we will announce the CACO grants, have a guest speaker and honor our sponsors. There were approximately 70 people signed up so far (as of last Wednesday)

Eric: District Conference
Eric thanked Denis Poole/Casella for sponsoring the District Conference. It was a great event and Eric encouraged folks to attend next year to learn and to have fun. He also picked up two towels at the event which were auctioned off during the Wednesday meeting. (Winners John Barstow and Jason Larocque)

Upcoming Year: John Barstow
John expressed his excitement for the upcoming year and shared some details. We will continue to have the 4 major fundraisers (Sponsors, Auction, Golf Tournament, and Flag Project). He would like to continue efforts towards membership and continue to attract and retain new members. This years efforts have been recognized at the District Level and thanked the Membership Committee. There is already a Friendship Breakfast set for October 18th.
John expressed his interest and concern for continuing efforts around Equity & Inclusion and how well we as Middlebury Rotary are living this out. John wants to make the club attractive to all and ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. He is interested in events to bring in folks, not just Rotarians. John expressed concerns of the $575 annual membership cost and is working to slightly lower them by trying something new. There will be 3 breakfast meetings: 1 - Ala Carte Menu (pay individually) and 2 - buffets. The plan is to have the 4th Wednesday at an offsite location for an evening fellowship event.
Lastly, John mentioned planning for the Centennial Event, a signature project. He also mentioned inviting folks to our regular service projects to get the community involved.
Ethan is the President of the 12 member Board of Volunteers leading the Middlebury Skatepark Project (non-profit). They are trying to provide a safe place to practice wheel sports. The location has just been approved by the pool area of the Memorial Sports Center. The MSP has been supported by various organizations such as United Way of Addison County, The Town of Middlebury, Teen Center, etc.
The fundraising goal for the project is between $375,000-$562,000 based on a calculation of funding needed per sq ft. The project will be approximately 7,500 sq ft. Thus far, the MSP has raised about $15,000 through grants and are looking for additional support through more grants and support from service organizations. They are also working with the Tony Hawk Foundation for technical support.
