Packing vacation bags at HOPE starts tomorrow morning at 10:00. As many people as possible are needed!
CACO grant review will be at the end of this month.
Our next gathering will be a social at Mr. Ups on April 29 at 5:30.
This weekend is the District Assembly.
Spencer spoke for the Weybridge Energy Committee. They are going to do a Window Dressers Project like we have done twice in the past. They would like our help in doing this. They have 2 people who have volunteered to lead the project but would love help from our club. He will provide more details in the future.
Eric reminded us about the District Foundation Brunch on April 26 where our own Liz Smith is going to be recognized.
Jason S. said that we have excellent participation by MUHS students for the RYLA program. We have 5 or 6 students who would like to attend. The cost is around $400 per student. It was moved, seconded, and so voted that the club spend up to $2500 to sponsor MUHS students to attend the 2026 RYLA program.
Ben started fines and happy dollars.
He gave the first happy $ to announce that the Salisbury Fire Department is holding a fund-raising breakfast the coming Sunday morning.
Paul is happy to hear from John Barstow who is having a great time in Europe.
Spence is happy to report that there was a nice celebration at Middlebury College for people from the town who host foreign students at the college. T was instrumental in founding this group.
Tim gave $10 for the health of his business partner which is steadily improving.
Bill is happy that taxes are done.
Fred is happy that he recently joined the Fire Department.
David is happy to announce that So. Carolina is lovely to visit.
Eric announced that he is heading to the Rotary International headquarters for a meeting this week.
Jason thanked Heather for helping him interview the High School students for RYLA.
Fred announced that June 12 is the date for the District Conference. It will be held in Magog, Quebec.
Fred introduced our speaker, Todd Goodyear. Todd introduced himself as a 7th generation Vermonter. He currently works at the barber shop in Middlebury.
He said he was given a house in Lincoln, with the condition that he had to move it. He has lived in Lincoln for years and he worked with adolescents until 2019. At that time, he felt an internal nudge to change direction, and in 2020 Covid made that change move faster.
He wanted to work with adults. He took advantage of a State of Vermont offer to assist Vermonters who wanted to continue their education in a Trade School. He went to Barber School and in May 2025 started working as a barber in Middlebury.
As he was spending more time in Middlebury, he started exploring the town and he read Glenn Andres book about the walking tour of Middlebury. After talking with Professor Andres, he decided to start giving tours. He has done bus tour groups, and this summer he will be doing monthly tours for the Seldon Museum.
Eric said it would be nice to find out more about what was happening in Middlebury about 100 years ago when our local Rotary Club was founded.
