LIFE MILESTONES

Kathy Nilsson's birthday is February 15.
The following Rotarians have passed significant membership milestones--David Clark, 22 years; Nancy Foster, 23 years; Liam English, 25 years; Eric Denu, 30 years; and Karl Neuse, 51 years.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Waterbury Rotary Pie Fundraiser--Ben reported that Buzz, T, David and he had attended the pie breakfast fundraiser at the Waterbury Rotary last weekend.  This event is also the "reveal" to exchange students, who learn at this event what country they will be spending the next year in.  Sabie Ward, our outgoing student, got her first choice, Spain.  She participated in the Sherbrooke exchange last year.  The two other outgoing students from our district are going to India and France.

Board Meeting--Tuesday, February 19, 5:15 at the Town Offices.  All members are welcome.

Baby Shower for Parent/Child Center--At our February 27 and March 6 meetings we will be collecting "baby shower" items for the Parent/Child Center, which provides services for children and young families.

District Grant Proposal--A committee has met to brainstorm ideas.  They will meet again on Tuesday to make a final recommendation.

Charter House meal--Geoff is planning to organize a test run in April of the idea of providing meals for residents of Charter House.  We would need to buy and prepare food, serve it, and clean up, probably two times during the college spring break.  If this goes well we may take on a longer commitment at Charter House.  This is like doing community suppers except on a much smaller scale.

WinterFest--Rotary will be entering the snow sculpture contest at WinterFest, which is happening from February 12-14.  Geoff urges members to come out to College Park to see the LOVE sculpture, which will include the Rotary symbol.

HAPPY DOLLARS

Juddy--for Kathy's birthday.
Kathy--for Susan B. Anthony's birthday, and for the 100th anniversary of the women's right to vote.
Scott--At season's end the college women are in first place, the men in 7th.  The season-ending tournament is next.
Spence--Thanks to the Fosters, Weybridge is better represented on a per capita basis at this meeting than Middlebury.
Fran--has a new grandchild.
Chris--appreciates his table mates.

PRESENTATION:

Nancy introduced her son-in-law, David Cole, founder of the Makery at Hannaford Career Center, and Dana Peterson, Superintendent of the Center.  They urged people to attend the Makers' Faire and went on to describe the programs of the Makers' Space and the Career Center as a whole.
