Paul reminded members of the Friendship Breakfast at Middlebury Inn on November 1, and asked them to invite people who are membership prospects.

Paul Harris Dinner: Eric announced that this year the Paul Harris dinner will be at the Waybury Inn on November 15. Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary. The dinner honors Rotarians who have supported the Foundation and Rotary financially and/or by being active Rotarians.

Service projects: Jason L. told the group that the Lindale project has been finished, with the help of a number of non-Rotarians. Rotary also helped with last weekend’s quilt event, and we will be staffing a booth at the car show this coming Sunday. See Katie if you can help at the booth between 10 AM and 3 PM. 

Tent: Ben is coordinating setting up the tent Thursday in Shoreham for Rebecca‘s wedding. See Ben if you can help.

District training event: District 7850’s fall training event, held in Lyndonville on November 11, will focus on membership. All members of the membership committee and anyone else interested in Rotary leadership training should plan on attending. Go to the district website or see Eric for more information.

Auction: The auction is up and running, and bidding has begun. Mike would still like a few more items to add to the website. Be sure to contact any businesses you have agreed to solicit. The auction runs through October 22.

Tiger cards: Liz M is selling tiger cards for Sam to support MUHS soccer. She’ll bring more next week.

John B: hoping for safe travels for his wife, Kate, who is planning a visit to Jordan.

John B. introduced our speaker, Fred Kenney, the ACEDC Director since November, 2017.

 

Fred has over 30 years of business experience in the private sector, working for Senator Leahy‘s office, and, since November 2017, as Director of Addison County Economic Development Corporation, ACEDC. ACEDC is a private non-profit with a focus on economic development for the county. Their mission is “advancing Economic & Community Development in Addison County,” making connections among area businesses and advocating with state and federal agencies to their benefit. They provide business training and education, mentoring and advising, access to capital and grant funding, and business expansion and relocation services. Some of the current initiatives are establishing a business incubator, helping Acorn Food Hub scale up its operations, and a directory of business to business services available in Addison County.
