The meeting centers on Foundation Month, with an emphasis on
fundraising, awareness, and recognition of contributors.
A highlight is the Paul Harris Fellowship awarded to Robert Foster
by Nancy for exemplifying Rotary values; his career spans dairy
leadership, environmental innovation, and community service.
The Rotary Foundation is portrayed as the core mechanism funding
global Rotary efforts, including polio eradication (highly prioritized)
and water/sanitation projects.
Donor mechanisms are encouraged: Rotary Direct and Annual
Share, with practical contribution levels (roughly $2–$3 per week,
e.g., $2 to Annual Share and $1 to PolioPlus).
Polio eradication is a central effort: Rotary aims to raise
$50,000,000 annually, matched 2:1 by the Gates Foundation;
Rotary spends about $150,000,000 annually on eradication.
The possibility of larger, global grants is discussed, along with the
potential for centennial-related initiatives and cross-district
collaboration.
A concluding Rotary Magazine message from Francisco reinforces
gratitude, hope, and service through the Foundation.
