LIFE EVENTS:

Scott Needham, Cari Burkard, and Bill Brooks have birthdays about now.  John Zahn is celebrating a wedding anniversary.  Members observing years of Rotary service are as follows:  Jim Needham, 32 years; Rex Stratton, 31 years, and Warren Rinehart, 4 years.

D-DAY:

Juddy asked for a moment of silence in memory of D-Day, those that died and those that survived.  It occurred 75 years ago Thursday.  Our own Ron Hadley was among those there that day.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Gala Dinner--Reservations need to be turned in to Scott by June 7.  He needs some volunteers to help put up posters.  This is the event at which we hand out all of the CACo awards.  Scott still has invitations available.  Remember, no meeting at Rosie's next week.

Change Over--Happens on Wednesday, June 26 (again, no meeting at Rosie's that day).  There will be hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.  Member recognitions will be handed out.

Flags--Flag Day is a week from Friday.  Look for a message from your captain as to when flags go up and come down.

Tents--Both tents are going up this weekend, and Kathy is looking at a busy schedule this summer and fall and could use some more volunteers.

Home Health and Hospice Events--5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 15th, at Town Hall Theater.  Also, a Senior Resources Fair at the Residence on the previous day, noon to 2:00 pm.

D-Day Speech by Ron Hadley--Thursday at 3:00 pm at EastView.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTION

T Tall inducted new member John Barstow.  Juddy stood in for Geoff, who is John's sponsor.  T told two stories of the power of Rotary, which is a worldwide organization with 1.2 million members in 200 countries.

HAPPY DOLLARS:

Maureen--Welcome to Deb Wesley.  And glad the auction is done.
Scott--Welcome to John Barstow.  Mike Kellogg will join after July 1.
Brandy--Asking for moral support for her uncle, fighting cancer.
John Z--back from celebrating his son's wedding in Rome (Italy).
Tom--Jealous of Eric, sitting next to Ian Riseley in Hamburg (Germany)
Spence--Traveled by train to Fran's 50th college reunion near Philadelphia.
Cari--EastView is at 100% occupancy.  Her birthday.  Liverpool won the Championship League.
Ron--Thanks to Juddy for remembering D-Day.
John B--Glad to be joining, thanks to a not very deep background check.
Kathy--Rotary should consider a role in helping the town survive construction and street closures in 2020.
Steve--for D-Day, and for Ron's speech on the subject tomorrow.

PRESENTATION:

Maureen introduced Deb Wesley, the new CEO of Home Health and Hospice.  Their goal is to allow patients to stay at home just as long as possible.  Deb mentioned that the organization has an extraordinarily dedicated board and staff, committed to community service.  They are committed to serving all people in need despite the challenges of underfunding by Medicaid and a nursing shortage.
