Simon Yiga spoke briefly about his club in Uganda, which is about the size of our club and carries out similar activities. He agreed to be the speaker at one of our meetings before he has to return to Africa.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The District Conference will be held in Sherbrooke, Quebec, from May 3-5. The Sherbrooke club will be celebrating its 100th anniversary--it is the oldest club in the district. The program includes an Interact Symposium, which Ben is helping to organize. Registration is now open.
The speech contest is scheduled for February 27. Liz and Ben are looking for contestants. There is no champion of the program at the high school, so it is a challenge to find interested students.
On March 15 there will be a Rotary Ski Challenge at Bolton Valley (fundraiser). See Juddy if you are interested.
Once again there will be a snow sculpture contest at an event sponsored by Neighbors Together and the Better Middlebury Partnership. It will be from noon to 4:00 on February 17 at College Park. See Dustin if you are interested.

PRESENTATION:
Scott introduced Bill Beaney, long-time hockey coach at Middlebury College. He brought eight national championships to Middlebury and is about to be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. Bill talked about his philosophy of coaching and his feeling that kids need more unstructured, unsupervised time for play as they grow up.
