In 2006, Alex moved back to VT and founded the Vermont Frost Heaves of the American Basketball Association. Alex wrote a The 200-plus page book that features all 97 of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame (VSHOF).
A little background on the VSHOF - this is an organization built to honor athletes and coaches who have made an impact. There are 13 of 14 counties represented in the Hall of Fame, 8 sports for both men and women, and 20 sports represented. There is a yearly event and revenue from that goes directly to the Prevent Child Abuse VT organization.
Alex talked a little bit about how VT is different in nurturing sports. For example, there are many individual sport athletes (skiers) from Norwich and the Upper Valley regions, but St. Albans promotes more team sports culture around hockey and football.
