Dustin and Neil enjoyed a relatively tuneful rendition of "Happy Birthday" to mark the turning of another year.  Anniversaries were celebrated by Tom (34), Geoff and Maureen (38), Scott (47), and Carl (55).

 

 

Training Sessions--The district leadership institute will be held on September 15 at Dartmouth College.  It provides training in several levels from basic to advanced about resources and programs of Rotary.

 

Barbecue--No meeting on the fifth Wednesday of the month (August 29).  Instead we will be having a barbecue at Nancy's house on Lake Champlain.  It will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 30.  Watch for an email with directions and other details.

 

Bus Shelter--The bus shelter several Rotarians built at HOPE needs to be moved.  Geoff will be organizing a crew to work from 9:00 to 12:00 this Saturday.

 

Flags--The Labor Day display of flags will begin by setting them out on Saturday, September 1 and taking them down on Monday, September 3.  Check with your team captain for the exact day and time.

 

Member Quiz Program--Juddy is collecting three facts about each member that the others may not know but that you would not mind having revealed.  He will then set up a quiz panel format so our hidden identities can be revealed.

 

Membership Breakfast--Scott and Logan are organizing a membership breakfast for October 10th at the Middlebury Inn.  Send contact information on prospective members to Scott and he will send out invitations.

 

 

Cari--With the support of Rotary, EastView is planning a Dementia Fair to improve support for dementia sufferers and their caregivers.

Spence--happy to have Mary Cullinane as a guest today.

Scott--this year marks 20 years of Friends of Panther Hockey.

David--enjoyed a visit to Cooperstown and Opera Week.

Dustin--has accepted a position of Superintendent of Parks and Recreation.  Thanks to Buzz for his mentoring.

Tom--(another) new grandchild.

Eric--a group of former District Governors are working on a plan for Rotary to play a role in combating opioid addiction.

Ron--thanks to Karl for providing an umbrella.

Juddy--biked the causeway from Colchester to South Hero.

 

 

Emma Pope-McCright gave an illustrated presentation on her exchange year in Iceland.  Isabel Olson and Ali Seaton talked about their experience with RYLA at Lyndon State College.  They will be spending time in the next year in the Bahamas and Spain, respectively.  We also met Giulia Lins, incoming exchange student from Brazil, and Liam Hamilton, about to depart for a year in France.
