ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Gala Dinner--Thanks to Scott and his team for a very successful dinner, with 87 people in attendance. Kathy and her committee did a great job presenting the CACo grants. And Congratulations to David for being named the recipient of the Buster Brush Community Service Award.
Change Over--Happens on Wednesday, June 26 (no meeting at Rosie's that day) from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Member recognitions will be handed out. This is the event at which we welcome Betsy as the new president. Bring a childhood picture so we can try to match it with your current self.
Rotary Shirts--Logan has a small supply of Rotary polo shirts, size L, for anyone who would like one.
Cemetery Clean-up--There is a little clean up still to do at the cemetery we worked on a few weeks ago. David is meeting a few volunteers at 1:00 to get this done.
Tents--Kathy now has a printed version of the tent schedule for this summer, and she will circulated it on email. Check out your availability on the dates on her list. She could use some more volunteers.
NEXT YEAR'S BREAKFAST PLAN
Betsy explained that dues will probably have to go up somewhat in the coming year, and she offered club members a choice between continuing with alternating between full breakfast and continental breakfast. Alternating would save between $40 to $50 off the dues. Members voted 16-14 to go back to having full breakfast every meeting.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
Ben--for going back to full breakfast every meeting.
David--Lois Kraus is recovering from an accident. The garden crew brought in $360 for the auction. And Thanks for the Buster Brush Award.
Scott--for Chris Waddell's great presentation.
Rex--donate good items to the Peasant Market. Also, the rocking horse he got in the auction (made by Jack) gave his granddaughter great pleasure.
Geoff--brought Maureen's New Beetle back from Fort Collins.
Cari--for the amazing community at EastView, and looking forward to a siblings reunion.
Eric--great gala dinner, and great RI convention in Hamburg, Germany.
Scott--for a 103 year old woman who ran the 100 meter dash.
Kathy--for the successful CACo process. Also, the Yankees beat Tampa Bay.
Juddy--expecting a boy in the fall.
PRESENTATION:
Neil introduced Kathy DeLorenzo, head field hockey coach at the college, who talked about a program she led in India to teach young girls field hockey skills as a way to build self-confidence and a way out of human trafficking and a repressive social environment. The young women she took with her served as models of what female athletes could achieve with their lives. The program is supported by the US State Department but will need private support after its first three years.
