  • Mike K finally got his roof replaced from the December storm and will be getting solar panels 
  • T-Tall went to the outdoor picnic in Shelburne and it started to downpour, so they moved the party to Lake Dunmore and had a great time! 
  • Paul announced the Peasant Market and a chance for great treasures (Saturday, July 8th) 
  • Gary highlighted the Addison County Special Olympics where he was a coach basketball and there were two teams. He asked two players to coach the other team, and they won! 
  • Spence thanked Tim and Wendy Hollander for hosting the Change Over Dinner 
  • David volunteered in Salisbury with MALT to help build the new trail 
  • Eric went to the 100th Celebration for Lebanon Rotary which was a great celebration. He also thanked Spence and John B for their leadership 
CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS: 
 
John  - Change Over Dinner 
  • Thanked everyone for a great time at the Change Over Dinner and for those who helped pull it together. Tim and Wendy for hosting, Maureen and Geoff for the food/Costco trip, Spence for leading, and the smoked salmon from Ben. 
David - Cemetery Cleaning 
  • Old Town Cemetery – Washington Street Ext (8 – 10 am this Saturday, July 15, 2023) (refer to David’s email) 
Geoff - HOPE Project (District Grant)
  • The first week for the remote Food Shelf will be during the week of July 24th (more information to come) 
  • There will be a event in July, August and September
Mike - Annual Auction 
  • Mike is looking for 3 volunteers to form an Auction Committee to help with administrative duties, delivering auction items, advertising, etc
  • If you are interested, please reach out to Mike. 
  • The auction is in October

Jason L - Service Committee 
  • Jason is working with ACCT to hopefully do the Lindale Project in August (More information to come). Additionally, there may be an opportunity to help with building raised beds for the Firehouse Apts in September 
  • There is potential to update the “Welcome to Middlebury” sign 
  • Possible TAM Project on Wed (July 12th)/ Sat (July 15th) - more information to come Wednesday morning 
Liz M - Youth Service Project 
  • Sem is coming in mid-August 
  • There are two families: one has a senior in highschool and one has a 8th grader. 
  • One of the families is looking for a dresser for the guest room for Sem
Paul - Membership Committee
  • Working on the Friendship Breakfast and will be looking to do things a little differently this year. Additionally, the committee will look to support the socials and mixers to bring in different folks 
  • Friendship Breakfast will be on November 1st 
John B - Social Events 
  • The 4th Wednesday of the month will be a evening social event and there will not be a morning meeting 
  • John passed around a picture of Rotary vs Lions in a Basketball game thanks to Fran who found it in his basement
  • Maybe we can do social mixers with the Lions Club?

Eric - Foundation Chair 

  • Eric reminded folks that donating to the foundation is what funds the annual District Grants and allows us to help our community. What we donate is what we get back for our community. You can donate online at https://my.rotary.org/donate
  • Paul Harris Dinner will take place in the Fall 
Jason S - RYLA Update 
  • There were about 50 young students/youth from Quebec, VT and NH. It was a great experience to see these young students during this leadership opportunity
100th Birthday - Middlebury (2027)
  • As a club we want to start thinking about what we can do for the 100th Birthday Celebration
  • Ideas 
    • Harmony Park Idea (Lebanon Rotary just did this for their celebration to create a space that is inviting for all age groups) 
    • This would cost about $50,000 
    • Town Clock  (Marblehead Rotary did this and was well received by the town) 
    • Rotary Square - upkeep a green space with events and bring music to the area 
    • Public Bathrooms for all in the community 
    • Middlebury Inn’s Bicentennial will be the same year and we could have a potential partnership 
    • More discussions will be coming around this topic
