Each year the Middlebury Rotary holds a speech contest for high school students. The winner then competes with students selected by the Vergennes and Shelburne-Charlotte clubs. The final contest is held at the District 7850 annual spring contest. Winners at each level receive a financial award.

The five minute speech is usually on a limited set of Rotary topics selected each year, such as “The Four Way Test”, “Service Above Self”, and the current year’s Rotary International theme.

The 2024 speech contest was held January 24 and MUHS student Maggie was selected to advance to round 2.
